A prayer of surrender for anyone held by alcohol or drugs. Ask God for the freedom His Word speaks of.
Heavenly Father, I come before You broken. I have nothing to offer but the mess I’ve made and the honest confession that I cannot do this on my own. You already know the weight I carry. The shame of waking up with regret, the promises I’ve broken, the people I’ve hurt, the person I’ve become that I never wanted to be.
Lord, I am tired. Tired of the cycle, tired of saying “never again” and meaning it with everything in me, only to find myself back in the same place by nightfall. I am tired of watching the people I love lose trust in me, and tired of losing myself.
But even here, with trembling hands and a fractured heart, I believe You are greater than this thing that has its grip on me. Your Word says that whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Jesus, I am asking You to set me free, and I am asking today.
Break the chains that hold me. Break the cravings that overtake my body and the lies that tell me I need this to survive. Silence the whisper that says I am too far gone and have tried too many times. Those are not Your words, Father. Your Word says I am loved, and that nothing is impossible with You.
Give me the strength I do not have. When my hands shake and my mind cries out for relief, be my relief. When the craving rises, hold me. When I want to give up, remind me that You have never given up on me.
Heal what addiction has taken from me. Heal my body from the damage I’ve done and my mind from the fog. Heal my relationships with the people who have every right to walk away but haven’t. And for those who have walked away, Lord, in Your time, restore what the locusts have eaten.
I surrender this to You. I cannot reach freedom by my own effort. I need the power that raised Jesus from the dead to raise me too. I ask this not because I deserve it, but because You are merciful, You are good, and You love me even now.
In the name of Jesus Christ, who came to set the captives free, I pray.
