When you are worn down and feel you cannot take another step, ask God for the strength He gives the weary.
Father, I have nothing left. My body is tired, my mind is tired, my soul is tired. I have been carrying things that are too heavy for one person, and I have been doing it for so long that I forgot what it felt like to not be exhausted.
I have been strong for everyone else. I have held it together for my family, showed up for my job, and cared for the people who depend on me while hiding my own pain, because I didn’t want to be a burden. But Lord, I am breaking, and I don’t know how much longer I can hold this together.
I am tired of hearing “stay strong” when I have nothing strong left in me. Each morning I wake up and wonder how I’m going to make it through another day, and each night I collapse, only to start again. I keep pouring out with nothing being poured back in.
But Your Word says that You give strength to the weary and increase the power of the weak. Lord, I am the weary and the weak. I am asking You, out of plain desperation, to fill me with a strength that is not my own. What I have manufactured has run dry. I need the kind that comes only from You.
Renew me, Father, as You promised to renew those who hope in You. Give me strength for this hour. Not tomorrow’s strength, just enough for right now. And when the next hour comes, give me enough for that one too.
Carry the things I cannot carry. Take the burdens I was never meant to bear alone. If I have been trying to control everything, fix everyone, and hold the world together by willpower, forgive me. Teach me to rest in You, even in the middle of the chaos, and to see that asking for help is not weakness.
Lord, I don’t need to understand why this season is so hard. I need to walk through it with my faith intact, and to look back one day and say that it was Your strength, not mine, that carried me.
In the mighty name of Jesus, who endured the cross and is alive forevermore, I pray.
Amen.
Scripture
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:29-31I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Psalm 46:1But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9Guidance
Before you pray, stop doing. Put everything down and be still for two minutes. Breathe, and invite God into the quiet before you speak.
Let yourself hear the words rather than perform them. When a line meets you, stop and repeat it.
Name the things draining you. The caregiving, the job, the grief. Tell God exactly where you are empty, and ask Him to meet you there.
Ask for strength one day at a time. Come back to this prayer each morning.
If you are worn out, you need people. Ask someone to share the load, and request prayer from our fellowship. We pray over each request by name.
You have just prayed this prayer. If you would like others praying it with you, send us your request. It arrives in a private inbox, a real person reads it, and our fellowship prays over it by name.
We share first names only, and we do not set a stop date.
